Anyone who has been following the ‘being healthy’ trend would be well aware of apple cider vinegar or ACV. In the recent years, it has been getting quite the attention for being a great health tonic. It is said to contain protein, enzymes and friendly bacteria that work towards lowering cholesterol, keeping the heart healthy, promoting weight loss and aiding digestion. But that’s not all there is to apple cider vinegar. ACV can also be used as an effective ingredient to take care of your beauty needs.
While we may find it hard to stay away from the glitz and glamour of commercial beauty products, what we can do, to ensure that we are taking care of ourselves in a better way, is to include tried and tasted natural remedies in our beauty ritual. The miraculous properties of natural ingredients are no secret. So why not make the most of them?
Apple cider vinegar can be used in various ways to look after your skin, hair and body. To help you get started, here are three easy ways to use ACV:
As a skin toner
Apple cider vinegar works as a great astringent that helps in skin toning by restoring and balancing your skin’s pH. It also helps in preventing acne or pimples by keeping the skin pores free from infection, oil and other dust particles.
How to use: Take equal parts of ACV and water, and mix well. You can also add in essential oils. Then use a cotton dab to apply it on your face and neck. Leave it on for a 5 minutes, then rinse it off with cool water.
To get rid of smelly feet
ACV has great antiseptic and antibacterial properties that help in getting rid of harmful microbes and fighting odour.
How to use: Take half a bucket of warm water and add one cup ACV to it (as well as peppermint essential oil). Dip your feet and let it soak for 10 minutes. Wash your feet with a gentle soap and water and keep dry.
To fight against dandruff
Apple cider vinegar also helps restore the natural pH level of the scalp, and fight against dandruff by removing dirt build-up with its anti fungal properties.
How to use: Take equal parts of ACV and water, and mix well. Apply it on your hair, little by little, and gentle massage the scalp before shampooing. Do this once a week as a preventative measure or every two days to reduce dandruff.
Make the most of apple cider vinegar by including it in your beauty ritual.
